A Christmas Wish

I am posting my wishlist here so that if someone wants to buy me something on it for Christmas they will know what I would like.  It is also a way I have to possibly win a conest with the company!  Woo Hoo! http://www.knitpicks.com/cfCart/viewWishlist.cfm?wishlistid=60AD30BC-219B-8E23-CCCFA451B1704D88&media=WLBL

Worth it . . .

to give a crafted object?  A while back I made a granny square blanket for a good friends little girl.  The blanket became a favorite lovie and mom had to give it to me for repairs.  I received it in very good condition and was able to after understanding what was necessary make the necessary repairs in short order. And now to the point . . .giving this blanket back to it's recipient.  I met mom and daughter yesterday to give them the blanket back.  I haven't seen them in some time and I doubt the now toddler would have remembered me at all.  We met at a local restaurant that is near my work and the mom's home.  Since we were all hungry we decided to have lunch.  While waiting to order I gave the toddler the shopping bag with her blanket and went about getting settled for lunch.  We had great food and wonderful time talking and enjoying ourselves during what was a way to quick lunch hour for me.  When I left, mom asked toddler to give me hug good bye . . . I got a big hug a

Slanting Gretel Tee . . .

Slanting Gretel Tee Originally uploaded by karyn_settles It's finally finished! In January I was part of a Knitting Daily Online KAL for this pattern. It took me way longer than it should have but I finally finished it. Pattern: Slanting Gretel Tee Designer: Petra Manis Yarn: Lorna's Laces Greenline DK Happiness scale: 4 out of 5 Construction: bottom up raglan It still needs to be blocked but I think it turned out beautifully. I enjoyed the construction and would do it again. I will definitely get a lot of wear out of this sweater, especially this fall as it starts to get cooler and maybe in the next few weeks as it still hasn't gotten quite warm enough to get out of the sweaters yet. This will be a nice layering piece.

Frost Diamonds . . . Blocked

Frost Diamonds Originally uploaded by karyn_settles This shawl rocks! It blocked very nicely and garnered many compliments today when I wore it to work! The yellow color was fantastic on me . . . I couldn't have asked for a better garment. This will go on summer vacation with me!

A finished project

I finished Frost Diamonds today.  It turned out beautifully!  I can't wait for it to get dry so that I can wear it!  The blocking was a little difficult with all the points but I think it's going to work out OK.  I am going to take final pictures of the project once it's dry.  I did take some pictures before blocking and after pinning it down though  Here is how it looked before blocking. I think it is beautiful before the blocking but it will be absolutly stunning after it's finished.  I have put some points on the edging and the blocking really opens up the lacework. The designer, Stefanie Japel is amazing!  I have made many of her designs.  They are straightforward to knit and stunning to wear!  This shawl has fitted shoulders making it easy to keep on.  The design was in the Winter 2009 Knitty .  I used some yarn that I had begun as another project.  I ended up feeling that the project wasn't working out and thought the yarn needed the "right" pattern.

Sunny Frosted Diamond . . .

I am knitting Frosted Diamonds  in a beautiful sunny yellow color.  The yarn is so nice, the drape of this shawl is going to be wonderful.

Woven Teddy Bears! Too Cute . . .

and so easy to make.   I can't wait to make these bears that were shown on Weavezine and the Lionbrand blog.  Here is a link to the article to make the bears and a link to how to weave on a pot holder loom, here . I'm putting a picture because it is so wonderfully styled.

Beanie for Mark - Another Fun Thing

Beanie for Mark Originally uploaded by karyn_settles My BIL just called and told me that he got his beanie . . . my DH dropped it by. He said "You hit a homerun with this one!" He loved it! I'm so happy!

I feel so lucky today!

I am too excited!  The ladies at theYarncraft podcast, here  were talking about teaching others to knit and they mentioned a post I made to their group on Ravelry  .  I feel so lucky to be mentioned . . . and lucky for the reason . . . teaching a friend to knit.  A while back my friend "M" mentioned to my DH that she was thinking about taking knitting classes.  DH mentioned to her that I'm a knitter and told me she wanted to learn.  I immediately offered to teach her.   She is an amazing person and so fun to be around.  Well, she did come over and we are continuing to see each other for "lessons" on a fairly regular basis.  I feel blessed to have the chance to teach someone the craft.  She is learning quickly and getting more confident in her crafting each time I see her.

I am a Ravthlete!

I am a Ravthlete . . . I medaled in the frogging category but it still counts.  The event was Aerial Unwind.  I frogged my Best Friend Cardigan and my Corset Tee 2 .  I am also competing in WIP Dancing and will now concentrate on that . . . Here is my medal!

Ribbed Cap - Part 2

:)  DH gave my BIL Mark his cap . . . and it was well received!  He put it on immediatly and before my DH could drive the 20 minutes home, Mark had called to tell me how much he liked it and how much he appreciated it!  Ordered KP Shine yarn to make another in cotton for him to wear in bed.  He commented that he would like something in cotton for when the weather is warmer and for bed.  A definite go do as soon as I get my yarn.  In the same order, I bought a complete set of Zepher needles from KnitPicks.  I have the Nickel Options set and love them too.  I am using a set of Zepher tips I purchased at my LYS to try on my Slanting Gretel Tee and love, love, love them!  Order should arrive Feb 1 and I can't wait! Knit On!

Ribbed Cap

Ribbed Cap Originally uploaded by karyn_settles I just finished this ribbed cap for my BIL Mark. He is undergoing chemotherapy for throat cancer and has lost his hair. I used his favorite color for the main body of the cap and added the stripes to "jazz it up" a little bit. I think he will wear it.
